Hello! I am Togolani Maya, Tanzanian and Health Laboratory Scientist working in a TB laboratory at Kibong’oto Infectious Diseases Hospital as Zonal Reference TB Culture Focal Person. I am a new Afrique One-ASPIRE fellow in the Mycobacterium Infection Control Program. My ambition is to become a research scientist specialized in Mycobacteria infections and control.

I am a conscientious and professional nurse with experience in nursing, information technology and human relations, currently seeking to pursue a postgraduate degree in Epidemiology.
An industrious individual and team player who undertakes all actions with utmost alacrity coupled with hard work and loyalty. A highly organised and efficient individual, whose thorough and precise approach to work has yielded excellent results. I graduated from University of Ghana and worked as a TA and nurse.

Après l’obtention du baccalauréat en juin 2008 avec mention assez bien en Série D, j’ai fais deux ans à la faculté des sciences techniques de BAMAKO dans la filière Bio-géologie. En septembre 2011 j’ai obtenu le concours d’entrée à L’EISMV-DAKAR. De 2011 à juin 2016 j’ai suivi le cursus veterinaire. J’ai régulièrement effectué des stages au Programme bovins et vollaile du CRRA DE SOTUBA (2013) À la DNSV et DNPIA (2014) Au LCV de Bamako (2015).Depuis juillet 2016 je fais ma thèse au LCV de BAMAKO.
Je parle très bien le français et le BAMBARA. Utilisateur basic de l’anglais et du Sarakole. Maîtrise les suites Microsoft et les logiciels R* et sphinx.
Dans la vie associative : j’ai été président de commission dans l’association des étudiants géologue du Mali, vice président ensuite président de l’amicale des Étudiants veterinaire Maliens de DAKAR, chargé de formation et de l’emploi au CNJ-MALI SECT sénégal.

I joined Ifakara Health Institute as a Research Officer 2009 to date. I have conducted various field-based rabies activities such as coordinating a rabies project funded by UBS Optimus Foundation collaborated with Sokoine University of Agriculture and University of Glasgow. 

My experience and interest on rabies is growing and has massively expanded. I hope to extend by looking at the family aspect of dog care, which help to develop interventions for rabies prevention in rural Tanzania.

I completed my primary Education in2000, then my O level certificate in 2005 and A level in 2008 I then joined Sokoine university of Agriculture where I completed my Bachelor of veterinary Medicine in 2014.

Currently am employed by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries working at the Zonal Veterinary Centre as Zoo Sanitary Coordinator of the Northern zone which is based in Arusha.

Ms. Ester is a statistician employed by National institute for Medical Research (NIMR) – Muhimbili Medical Research Centre (MMRC) as an assistant statistician. She has background in Research, Data management and analysis as she holds a Degree of economics and Statistics. She has been involved in a different research projects, most of them related to HIV infection, Tuberculosis, NCDs, Family planning and Maternal and Child health. Lastly, Ms. Ester has 5 years’ experience in health research.
