Afrique One-ASPIRE, partner of IGS summer 2019
This year, the IGS summer school will take place at the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques (CSRS) in Côte d’Ivoire from 13th to 23th june 2019,on the theme “Integrated research for sustainable development:Combining public health, natural resource management, and corporate social responsibility approaches”.
The participants will learn theoretical foundations and methods of integrated development research and interventions and gain in hands-on experiences during fieldwork at the 2019 IGS Summer School at CSRS. In their practical work, the students will develop and adapt the acquired concepts to a problem of their own choice in small group works and link to SDGs. Field studies will be held:
a) At the CSRS field station in Bringakro on rural development
b) In the Health and Demographic Surveillance Research station in Taabo on the health and development nexus
c) In the National Park of Banco, in Abidjan on environmental services and nature conservation
d) In an urban low-income area of Yopougon, Abidjan on urban and social development and conflicts.
This workshop is organised in collaboration with Afrique One -ASPIRE, Swiss TPH, Swisspeace, two associated institutes of the University of Basel, and the Centre for Development and Environment, University of Bern .
There are 8 students from Afrique one who will take part. And 3 associate researchers will be trainers at this edition.
