Annual Meeting 2018 of Afrique One-ASPIRE: showcasing the first findings

The third annual meeting of Afrique One-ASPIRE will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from 15th to 22nd September 2018. The host institution is the Biosciences eastern and central Africa – International Livestock Research Institute (BecA – ILRI) Hub, one of the partners of Afrique One-ASPIRE for the biosciences and bioinformatics training.

This annual meeting comprises three parts: the summer school, the scientific event and the management board meeting. The summer school will start on the 15th and will focus on four main thematic areas: (i) bioinformatics; (ii) data management; and (iii) knowledge transfer. On the 20th September, fellows will present their first findings through posters and oral communication.

The management board meeting will be held for two days, on the 21st and 22nd of September 2017. It will be focused on the report of the 2nd of the programme under the supervision of the Scientific and Strategic Advisory Board.

About Afrique One-ASPIRE and BecA-ILRI Hub

Afrique One-ASPIRE is the continuity of the consortium ‘Ecosystem and population health: expanding frontiers in health’ and one of the eleven beneficiaries of the Developing Excellence in Leadership, Training and Science (DELTAS Africa) initiative managed by the Alliance for Accelerating Excellence in Science in Africa (AESA) and funded by a donor consortium that comprises the African Academy of Science (AAS), The New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD), the Wellcome Trust and UKaid.

The Biosciences eastern and central Africa-International Livestock Research Institute (BecA-ILRI) Hub is one of the three Afrique One-ASPIRE training hubs. BecA-ILRI Hub provides training support in biosciences and bioinformatics at the Afrique One-ASPIRE fellows and mobilizes additional resources for supporting Afrique One-ASPIRE and BecA-ILRI Hub BecA joint activities.
