CSRS-Learning Package 2017: CSRS and Afrique One-ASPIRE train young researchers in research excellence

26 January 2017

The Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d’Ivoire (CSRS), in collaboration with the research consortium Afrique One-ASPIRE, organized its annual training session ‘Learning Package’ from 23rd to 26th January 2017. This event aimed at building the research capacity of Postdocs, and Doctoral and Masters students affiliated or not with CSRS.

A total of 28 researchers participated in the training course given by Prof. Bassirou Bonfoh, Director General of CSRS and CSRS researchers and employees, including Dr Aurélie Cailleau, training coordinator of Afrique One-ASPIRE. Training modules covered the rules and procedures in a research institute, inter and trans-disciplinary research, the development and planning of research projects, research and bibliographic management and computing applied to scientific research.

The course ended with the hand-over of certificates. The participants were satisfied and thanked to the CSRS Directorate for this initiative.

About the Learning Package

The Learning Package was developed by CSRS to provide young African scientists with the essential tools to become internationally competitive. This course has been organized repeatedly in West Africa (i.e. Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Togo and Mali), in Central Africa (Tchad) and in East Africa (Tanzania).

The Learning Package contains up to 18 modules that are delivered according to the specific needs expressed in the institutions. These modules are delivered by trainers accredited by the CSRS and are all accompanied by practical exercises that ensure a good understanding of the content.
